Getting there 
Portugalete is located in the northeastern part of Vizcaya, a few kilometres away from Bilbao and only minutes from the airport at Loiu, being reached by road (N 634) or by suburban train.
BY TRAIN:
Renfe, the Spanish national railways, runs services to Bilbao from the vast majority of Spanish cities, as well as from the rest of Europe through the border crossings at Hendaye or Le Pehrts in France. The Renfe-Abando railway station has a direct metro connection.
There are good railway connections with surrounding towns and villages, as well as with the rest of Spain.
